FIJI

Fiji sits in a category of its own among luxury travel destinations. The combination of genuine warmth from the Fijian people, extraordinary marine environments, and a collection of private island resorts unlike anywhere else in the world makes it one of the most memorable places we’ve traveled. It’s also a long way from everywhere, which means choosing the right property matters enormously — a mediocre resort in Fiji is a very expensive mistake.

Our Fiji coverage is currently focused on one property we know extremely well from firsthand experience. No resort paid to be featured, and no review is sponsored.

Where we cover in Fiji:

Vomo Island Resort — A private island in the Mamanuca group, about 30 minutes by seaplane from Nadi, Vomo is one of Fiji’s most beautiful and well-run private island resorts. The island is small enough to feel truly exclusive but large enough to have real variety — excellent beaches on multiple sides, a hilltop walk with panoramic views across the South Pacific, outstanding snorkeling directly off the shore, and a level of service that genuinely reflects the warmth Fiji is famous for. It works exceptionally well for families. Read our full Vomo Island review for an honest account of what to expect.

Planning a trip to Fiji: The logistics of Fiji travel reward research. The main international gateway is Nadi on the western coast of Viti Levu, and most luxury resorts — particularly the private island properties in the Mamanuca and Yasawa groups — are reached by seaplane or boat transfer from there. Factor transfer time and cost into your planning, as it can add significantly to the overall trip budget.

Best time to visit Fiji: May through October is the dry season — cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and the most reliably sunny weather. November through April brings the wet season and occasional cyclone risk, though the shoulder months of November and April can still offer excellent conditions at lower prices. Water visibility for snorkeling and diving is outstanding year-round.

More Fiji coming soon. We’re actively expanding our Fiji coverage to include additional private island resorts and the Yasawa Islands. Sign up for updates below.
