Antiparos Travel Guide (2026): Beaches, Restaurants & Where to Stay

Antiparos Harbor

Antiparos is what people imagine when they picture a Greek island and haven’t yet been disappointed by one. It’s small, unhurried, genuinely beautiful, and still operating at a pace that most of the Cyclades abandoned a decade ago. The village is car-free, the beaches are rarely crowded, and the whole island can be covered in a day — which makes it both a perfect day trip from Paros and a quietly excellent base in its own right.

We’ve been with kids and without. It works for both. Here’s what to know.

Getting to Antiparos

The ferry leaves from Pounda Port on the west coast of Paros — not from Parikia, which is the mistake most people make. The crossing takes about 7 minutes and runs throughout the day. You can bring a car or scooter, which is worth doing if you want to reach the more remote beaches.

Best Beaches in Antiparos

Soros Beach — The best all-around beach on the island. Wide, sandy, with some of the clearest water in the Cyclades. The beach bar serves drinks and food through the day, which makes it easy to stay longer than planned.

Agios Georgios Beach — A sheltered bay with calm, shallow water. The best option for families with young kids, and conveniently close to some of the island’s best seafood restaurants.

Faneromeni Beach — A quiet cove that the dirt road in keeps mostly to itself. Worth the drive for the seclusion.

Livadia Beach — Remote and completely unspoiled. Go if you want a beach that feels genuinely off the map.

Sifneiko Beach — Where you go for sunset. Bring something to drink and arrive early enough to find a good spot.

Kalokiri in Antiparos

Kalokiri in Antiparos Chora

Sapou — Our pick for the best meal in Antiparos. Creative Greek cooking right on the water — fresh seafood with more imagination than the typical taverna, good cocktails, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to linger. Worth a reservation.

Captain Pipinos — Right on the water with unobstructed views across to Despotiko Island. As classic as it gets: grilled fish, ouzo, no pretension. Go for lunch or an early dinner.

Kalokiri — Elevated Italian in the heart of the village. Excellent pasta, buzzy in the evenings, a good option when you want a break from Greek food.

Sunset Antiparos — Straightforward fresh food with views of the sunset. Good for an early evening meal timed around the light.

Eros Antiparos Burger — Smash burgers, loaded fries, milkshakes. Casual and good, and the best option if you’re traveling with kids who have hit their limit on seafood.

Vicky’s Ice Cream — The best ice cream on the island. Not a close call. Go after dinner or, honestly, whenever.

Things to Do in Antiparos

Wander the Chora — The village is small enough to cover on foot in an hour, but slow enough that you’ll want more time. Cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, good boutique shopping. Check out Boato concept store for distinctive souvenirs that aren’t the usual Greek island fare. Calm by day, livelier after dinner.

Visit the Cave — One of the most impressive cave systems in the Cyclades, with stalactites and stalagmites and ancient inscriptions on the walls. The descent is 411 steps down — and 411 back up — but it’s genuinely worth doing. Bring shoes with grip.

Boat Trip to Despotiko — The uninhabited island just off the southwest coast of Antiparos. Sail around it, snorkel the coves, and visit the ongoing archaeological excavations of an ancient sanctuary. One of the better half-day activities in this part of the Cyclades.

Rent a Buggy or Scooter — The island is small enough that you can cover most of it in a few hours. Renting transport gives you access to the more remote beaches and lets you move at your own pace rather than depending on the limited bus service.

Stay

Antiparos doesnt have any large hotels which is part of what make it so tranquil. Your best bet may be renting a villa. We like the selection at Le Collectionist.

Soros Beach is a great option for a laid back hotel stay in a great beachfront location.

A remote hotel on an already remote island, The Rooster is where to stay when you really want to disconnect.

When to Visit Antiparos

June and September are the best months — warm enough to swim, manageable crowds, and restaurants that aren’t fully booked a week in advance. July and August are busy and hot, but the island absorbs it better than Mykonos or Santorini because the numbers are simply smaller. Avoid August if you want the quieter version of the island.

FAQs About Antiparos

Is Antiparos worth visiting?

Yes — particularly as a day trip from Paros or as a quieter alternative base. It’s one of the most genuinely relaxed islands in the Cyclades.

How do you get from Paros to Antiparos?

Ferry from Pounda Port on the west coast of Paros. Not from Parikia — that’s the most common mistake. The crossing takes about 7 minutes and runs all day.

Is Antiparos good for families?

Very — the village is car-free, the pace is slow, Agios Georgios beach is calm and shallow, and the cave is genuinely interesting for older kids. See our full Antiparos with kids guide for more detail.

Is Antiparos better than Paros?

Different rather than better. Antiparos is quieter, smaller, and has less going on — which is the point. Most visitors do both. Read our Paros vs. Antiparos comparison for a full breakdown.
