Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North Review (2026): Worth It for a Girls Trip?
Overall: 7.5/10
Value: 8/10 | Food: 7/10 | Design: 8/10 | Service: 7/10 | Location: 8/10
I do an annual girls trip to Scottsdale — it's one of my favorite weekends of the year and has given me the opportunity to work through all the best resorts in the area over time. The Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North was high on the list. We spent the day hiking desert trails, relaxing by the pools, and doing the spa. Overall it's a strong property — the pools, the rooms, the food, and the location are all excellent — but the spa was a meaningful disappointment for a trip where the spa is usually the main event. I'd still recommend it and would go back. Just not for the spa.
Incredible scenery at Four Seasons Scottsdale
Location
Set at the northern edge of Scottsdale in the Troon North area, at the base of Pinnacle Peak, surrounded by protected Sonoran Desert landscape. The views of Pinnacle Peak and the desert from the property are genuinely dramatic and the adobe architecture integrates well with the surroundings. Downtown Scottsdale is about 25-30 minutes south — far enough to feel removed, close enough to access for dinner if you want it.
Rooms & Casitas
Room at Four Seasons Scottsdale
The property is made up of separate casitas rather than a traditional hotel tower, which gives the whole resort a more spread-out, private feel. We found the double rooms easily accommodated three adults — two double beds and a pull-out sofa — which is worth knowing for anyone booking for a small group. Southwestern-inspired décor, private patios, plush and comfortable throughout. Spacious enough that three people sharing never felt cramped.
Pools
Three pools: one for kids, one for families, one adults-only. Surrounded by towering saguaro cacti with mountain views in every direction. The pool attendants were excellent — attentive, proactive, the kind of service that makes a pool day genuinely easy. Full food and drink service available poolside throughout the day, which means you can realistically spend the entire day there without going anywhere. This was our base of operations and it delivered completely.
Stop by the lobby every morning before heading to the pool — complimentary coffee and pastries are set out daily. A small detail that lands well and starts the day right.
Four Seasons Scottsdale at Dusk
Spa
The honest review: disappointing, and worth being upfront about because the spa is a significant factor for the girls trip crowd that this hotel naturally attracts.
The treatments themselves were genuinely good — skilled therapists, well-executed. The facility is the problem. The locker room is cramped and the amenities are minimal — steam room and sauna, nothing beyond that. For a property at this price point and with this market positioning, the spa infrastructure doesn't match. If the spa is your primary reason for visiting Scottsdale, I'd point you toward two better options:
The Boulders — The best spa in Scottsdale. The facility, the setting among the boulder formations, and the overall experience are all exceptional.
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess — Also significantly better spa infrastructure than the Four Seasons. Worth considering if spa amenities are the priority.
Hiking through the spring blooms
Outdoor Activities
The desert setting earns its keep here. We did a non-guided hike directly from the hotel — well-marked trails lead into the surrounding desert landscape without needing a car or a guide, which we appreciated. Spring wildflower blooms on the trails are genuinely beautiful if your timing is right. Guided hikes and horseback riding are available if you want something more organized.
There's also a daily list of complimentary activities — hikes, kids' crafts, and others — which rotates through the week. Worth checking at check-in to see what's available during your stay.
Dining
We tried all three dining options across our stay and nothing disappointed.
Talavera — The standout. Authentic tapas and regional cuisine in a beautiful setting. We ate here two nights in a row and worked through almost the entire menu. The steaks were the highlight — order them. The best dinner on property by a meaningful margin.
Onyx Bar & Lounge — Handcrafted cocktails and panoramic sunset views. The right place for a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap. The sunset from here is genuinely excellent.
Pool Restaurant — Limited menu but well executed. The poke bowls are specifically worth ordering.
Proof, An American Canteen — The more casual option — bright lights, shuffleboard tables, hearty comfort food. Good for a relaxed lunch or an early dinner when nobody wants to dress up.
Is Four Seasons Scottsdale Good for Families?
We visited for a girls trip but the property works well for families. The kids pool and family pool setup is well thought through, the casita layout means the property feels spacious rather than crowded even at full occupancy, the kids program runs outdoor activities, and the walkable desert hiking from the hotel is genuinely accessible for children who can manage a trail. Not as family-programmed as a dedicated family resort, but a solid option for parents who want a luxury desert experience without sacrificing too much adult comfort.
When to Visit
October through April is the best window for Scottsdale — warm and dry without the summer heat. Spring (March-April) brings wildflower blooms on the hiking trails which are worth timing around if you can. May through September is very hot — pool days are still excellent but outdoor activities become limited during peak afternoon heat. December through February is mild and relatively uncrowded.
Is the Four Seasons Scottsdale Worth It?
Yes — with the spa caveat clearly understood. The pools are exceptional, the rooms are spacious, Talavera is genuinely excellent, the desert setting and walkable hiking are a real advantage, and the casita layout makes the whole property feel more personal than a traditional hotel. The spa underwhelms for a property at this price point and with this market. If the spa matters most, go to The Boulders or Fairmont Princess. If everything else matters more, the Four Seasons is one of the best options in Scottsdale.
